So you have a new web site up. You have worked hard and put together a great looking site. It's got all the right things - great content, slick graphics, and it's in a niche that has loads of searches. You have heard how easy it is to get yourself on the web and into business. Right?

Well no, not exactly. We have all been there and found the getting onto the web is the easy part. The getting into business is the hard part!

So "what's wrong, and what do I need?", you ask. Good question, but I have to tell you, the answer is not simple or brief.

The long and short of it is - to get business you need traffic. There are a number of ways to achieve this but the most important one is, you need the "Search Engines" to see you. This is called getting listed on the search engines. Yes, just like all lists, it's best to be at or near the top!

To get a good listing you need to be able to get a number of things exactly right or "optimized" on and in your great looking web site.

Here are seven of the most important things you need to get optimized:

1. Your Keywords.
The right keywords bring results; the wrong ones bring nothing.

2. The Right Page Title.
Your page title needs to be very concise, explaining exactly what your page is about and it needs to contain those keyword phrases as well. If you get it wrong, you won't see the results you want.

3. The Right Meta Tag Description.
This is a hidden description of your web page in your page header. Get this wrong and you won't get high on that list!

4. The Right Meta Keywords.
These again are hidden and related to the keywords in Item 1, as well as the keywords on your web page. This is a balancing act you need to get right.

5. Know How To Use H Tags Correctly.
H Tags are all about heading size on your page and how you use this can affect how the search engines like your page.

6. How To Use ALT Or Title Tags.
The effective use of these will have the search engines pushing you up that list.

7. Domain names or URL's
It may seem easy to choose a domain name for your web site but the right one will give you a head start over a poor choice.

We have made a list of seven, but that's only a beginning. You can spend hours of your time learning about SEO and even longer experimenting on your web site to see what works and what doesn't.

The truth is, to get into business, you need to not only to create an optimized website but also have methods of testing it.

One way you can achieve all this in a much shorter time is to get help from the experts.

There are a number of software programs available that do the hard work for you but most important, they get it right for you! They do cost money to get but the time and frustration they will save you is well worth it. Instead of being confused and feeling you have too much to learn, you will find your web site up, running, optimized and in business at last...
