When you are an owner or a manager of a website that is used for business purposes, chances are that you spend a great deal of your day looking for different ways of promoting a website. If you are just a small time business owner or computer entrepreneur, you may not have the luxury of sitting around all day thinking of ingenious methods of promoting your website.

In such cases, there are only a few minor things you might want to keep in mind when it comes to promoting. First of all, you don't want to make it completely obvious. There are subtle ways that you can thread your presence through the internet and build traffic to your site.

IF you specialize in a certain niche, you might want to consider writing articles for article directories. Although these articles are not always paid (and if they are paid, they are not usually paid very well), web site owners will normally provide links back to your website along with a byline, giving you and your site credit for the information in the article.

Also, upping your ranking in the major search engines, such as Google and AltaVista are great ways of promoting your website. If you can optimize your web content to include keyword rich content, you are on the first major step toward promoting your web site.

Also, have some way of rewarding your site visitors for taking time out of their day to visit your particular site. The way that many people choose to do this is to provide a newsletter, or allow the visitor to put in their email to subscribe to a newsletter or some kind of alert. This gives your visitors a reason and a legitimate opportunity to visit your site at a later time, which means you are able to promote your website even further by making sure it is up to date and fresh.
